Several music groups find they can bring extra message impact by including the crosses in their message. Here are the Gospel Plowboys.
It is a honor sir to hear from you! I am in my sixties and have heard a lot of gospel music but you fellas come across as genuine as they come. In 1980 and 81 my father and mother died. They both had large funerals that local groups sang at. The only song that I can remember was When he reached down for me. Since then I have never heard it done right till the other day, when I heard you guys do it.

When it comes around to people being persecuted for JESUS I want them to know I want to be first in line! I have never asked for a nickel for them. The big ones are hollow and easy to move around. They are made of red cedar with 2 coats of polyurethane.

The stumps are at item for landscape markets. The tree tops with many limbs find manufacturers of rustic coat racks and "cat trees" among other things. Taxidermists use weathered wood for display pieces. Indoor plant decorators use rustic wood for texture in office and retail settings. Even the scraps from cutting can be chipped for horse stalls. We hope to use "everything but the blue sky between the limbs".
LIVE EDGE fireplace mantels are in demand for upscale homes. Our stock of "river logs" is a great source for weathered - live edge cuts. We are amazed at the beauty of timber from the magnificent Juniper wild-fall in our area.
The landowner wanted to remove the trees from the fence-line since they shade off about 5 acres total of a 86 acre field. He wants the tree stumps to remain about fence top high as a deterrent to off road activity into the fields. It is a February project

This report reflects some of the frustration involved in achieving results for the public with logjam removal on the Escambia River -- and other rivers in the area.

The following comment was added to reflect some of the issues at hand. Hope springs eternal the logjams will eventually be history.

There are some misunderstandings here in both some comments and some in the article. (A) There was NEVER a contract paying out for logjam removal. Removers pay for a time sensitive permit to have access to the resource . (B) The river is heavily protected by the DEP and about five other agencies – federal, state and county. (Permits and training certificates are in force) (C) Southern Forest Products folded over a year ago. (cost and partnership issues) . The key operator, LD Henderson now operates under River Resources is now clearing on the Perdido under PAID PERMITS. . Some of this is not economically damaging but for someone insured and permitted (at a cost) to do this – an excess of log removal by unlicensed opportunists is a problem. No TAXPAYER or other money is paying for this. In fact – the loggers are paying for permits and insurance, etc.

AND YES, it is complex to do with weather, river levels and equipment at all levels. Bear in mind THESE PERMITS only address TOP of water wild-fall. A whole separate set of permits regulates the fascinating “deadhead” harvest.
It takes skill and determination to get at the logjams on the rivers. Here, LD Henderson removes a root stump from the end so the log can be brought downriver to a take-out point.BUZZ CREEKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04866088379634990967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5707338982975785570.post-38484123205614152952016-03-18T13:28:00.003-07:002016-03-18T13:28:30.670-07:00A FANTASTIC LOGJAM on the PerdidoAs we work on the Perdido River we are finding more logjams than we originally explored. This one is about a mile below I-10 - some miles above the Highway 90 river crossing. Imagine the Juniper Lumber that will come out of this big jam ! We are starting to address this one but the immediate project is to clear the RR Bridge at Barienau Park.
River Resources now has that beautiful timber available in lumber. The saws are working. The lumber is being cut for a variety of uses. Here are some things to know about JUNIPER wood. This is Atlantic White Cedar - a relative to Eastern Red Cedar and the famous California Redwoods. The cell structure of this wood is "closed" so it resists water and rot. Logs that have been in the water for years remain DRY except the very outer bark. Because it is closed cell, by nature it is much lighter than the heavier OAK or CYPRUS wood. So it makes superb strong and lightweight construction material - including decorative uses. ASK about the LIVE EDGE option. We can cut to YOUR SPECIFICATIONS. Give us a call.
River Resources is producing BAT HOUSE KITS for homeowners and communities to place around their homes and towns. Let's start reducing the mosquito population. Look for BAT HOUSE KITS SOON - We will let you know how to find them.
River Resources owner - LD Henderson -- is shown here with some of the early log removals from the Perdido. The Perdido is on the border of Florida and Alabama. Over a year of negotiations, certifications, license approval and government and private coordination was required to reach this point. There are many different markets for the various selections of the trees. Mr. Henderson is working with buyers from several different end-use markets. FOR MORE PHOTOS THIS DAY - CLICK.

Buyers will have a good supply to choose from. Some buyers will want the whole log. Others will want "CANTS" which are pre-sawed 10x10 rough cuts. Some will want pre-cut lumber.

Henderson is prepared to address these markets and even the decorative architect market for the rough - driftwood look.

While some of the wood has blemishes -
it does not reduce the market. There are also markets for the blemished wood because of the interesting patterns and artistic opportunities.

River Resources also takes the stumps when reasonable to do so. These have markets of their own, from decorative driftwood to furniture making in the "wild" style.

Environmentalists will be happy to know there will be plenty of wild-fall left in the rivers for fish cover and bank protection. After big storms like IVAN (the terrible) the useful wild-fall for natural river biology is exceeded by a thousand percent.

This shot looks past the staging area for stumps and driftwood down to the landing near Ruby's. The property here is County owned. It is next to the new recreational boat ramps off Hwy 90, being installed by Escambia County. In a few days, water levels permitting - the Railroad Trestle at Barrineau Park will be addressed.
The longer rivers were still swollen quite a bit but some logjams do show up. The Perdido is a fast draining river, with less watershed, so it returns to normal stage fairly quickly. The logjams are evident in the photos. An agreement with Escambia County, FL and Ruby's Fish Camp allow for some critical log removal near the Hwy 90 bridge into Alabama.
A new landing and park area is being developed there by the county and we are using a bit of land away from the new public area but near Ruby's Fish camp for the log removal. We also want to thank Ruby's Fish Camp for the smooth cooperation to make this process go smoothly. There were some delays from the rain but this landing and other landings on this river will soon be in use to take out logs.
We are also appreciative of the Blue Knights chapter in Milton, Florida - who provided a flight gift certificate to use from the AMS Flight School.BUZZ CREEKhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04866088379634990967noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5707338982975785570.post-73653707908997109082015-12-11T05:42:00.001-08:002015-12-11T05:42:25.045-08:00Bringing in the Sheaves

Bringing Logs to market. www.Riverloggers.com uses a workboat, some chainsaws and about sixty five million permits and registrations to harvest wildfall, logjams and deadheads from some of the pristine rivers of NW Florida and Alabama. Most of the work is manual to avoid a lot of machinery and industrial clutter. This work, because of the environmental and natural resource issues is highly regulated. LD Henderson of River Resources is one of the few with the persistence to follow through with all the permitting. DEP and Natural Resource regulations require the most professional approach to gain access to rivers. Some of the last hurdles of agreements for take-out points will settle this week. As the weather improves for these operations, our teams are coming together for intense harvesting of Juniper and other wild-fall in these pristine rivers. AT THIS POINT we are PULLING logs from one river and others are in the process of proper permitting. This RIVER LOGGER is bringing timber to the market for the most discerning buyers. Look for some beautiful posts of Juniper and other wood varieties soon.
